training run #229

Posted on Updated on

Tuesday 30 November, 06:18.

SNOW!  Heavy snowstorm, windy, temp 1C.  Went for a 4 mile loop to old Westfield.  Tried to use tyre tracks on roads but kept switching to footpaths or moved across the road to avoid maniac drivers.  Think this will account for some of the extra distance.  Surprised by fast pace.  Was occasionally blinded by snow in left eye, very uncomfortable.  Didn’t slip or slide despite ice and hard compacted snow.  Buzzing to finish well and beat the conditions.

Distance:  6.99km (usually 6.7)
Time:  41:54
Avg HR:  153bpm
Avg pace:  5:59 min/km!!!!

Week 1/16 marathon schedule.

Due to do 3 miles, so did usual 4.2 mile loop to old Westfield.  Very cold, -1C, breezy, started snowing after 15 mins and got really heavy.  Good fun 🙂  Icy footpaths so tried to keep to the roads.  Surprised at the reasonable pace; must have been the imperative to keep moving and get round because of the conditions.

Distance:  6.77km
Time:  42:04
Avg HR:  150bpm
Avg pace:  06:12 min/km

Thursday 25 November, 05:42!!

Zero celsius, very dark, windy, icy underfoot.  Went for the usual loop to old Westfield.  Felt fine, no niggles, OK pace, OK HR.  Got a buzz from doing such an early run in such cool conditions, but there’s colder weather to come, and snow!

Distance:  6.67km
Time:  42:34
Avg HR:  146bpm
Avg pace:  6:22 min/km

Tuesday 23 November, 06:20.

Cold, 5C, dark; wrapped up and did a road run, the loop to old Westfield.  Aimed to do a slow pace / managed HR following Sunday’s run which helped me to recalibrate my training pace.  Taking it easier to aim for under 140bpm. Didn’t look at my HRM on the run but got close to that objective 🙂 The run felt very easy, but then it was 2 mins slower than recent runs.

Distance:  6.59km
Time:  43:48
Avg HR:  143bpm
Avg pace:  6:38 min/km
