training run #532

The thermometer outside the bedroom window said -3C, but car dashboard confirmed it was -5C, and at Rother Valley it was probably -6C or lower.  The main lake was mostly frozen over.  Went for my usual 7 mile run.  Wrapped up with an extra layer.  The paths around RV were quite passable.  Approx 30-40% of the lap was compacted snow, icy and rutted, and for the rest it was mostly clear except for occasional frozen puddles.  Felt fine and was surprised with HR and pace considering the cold and taking extra care on the icy parts.  Felt right leg niggle only slightly today.  It was the coldest run I’ve done for a while, and quite pleased with how it went.  Only saw one other person on the run, an old chap walking, not sure where his dog was if he had one.

Distance:  11.53km
Time:  1:08:03
Avg HR:  138bpm
Avg pace:  5:54 min/km
Calories:  752
