Sunday 18 May, 07:44. My 50th birthday.

14C in the shade, much warmer in RV in full sunshine. Went for a 7 mile run, having taken a week and a half off while holidaying. I’d taken my running gear but didn’t get out for a run while in Ireland. My hamstrings were tight after two afternoons weeding the garden at Flockton Ave, and carrying lots of stuff into the garage. So I took it easy until a couple of other runners caught me up and carried me along at a faster pace while we chatted. I’d talked to one of them previously and was updating them about the London Marathon, etc. For 3/4 of a lap my pace was more like interval sprinting, until they turned off. Felt a bit of soreness on the ball of my left foot, some blistering not fully healed from VMLM. Also a slight niggle on right shin. Need to get back in the running routine with a return to work on Tuesday. Today was very warm, wore sun cream and drank 500ml water.

Got a new tattoo after completing the London Marathon last month, to add to Paris, Rome and Berlin 🙂


Going back in a couple of weeks to have it touched up, but really pleased with it.

10C, sunny, some clouds. Went for another 7 mile run. Legs were tired after spending all the previous afternoon tidying and hoovering the house at Flockton to get it ready for sale. So kept it easy and tried to keep HR low. A nice run.

10C, sunny, blue skies. Went for the usual 7 mile run at RV. Sun cream on the solar panel, and it was pleasant and mild in the sunshine. Legs were a bit heavy on the first lap, but loosened up on the second. The overnight rain meant there were coloured puddles; red, blue, green etc, in the areas where the splash dash fun run had been throwing paint around on Sunday.

Monday 5 May, 08:13. May Day Bank Holiday

9C, sunny, blue skies and a warm southerly wind. Went for a 7 mile run in HR zone 2. It felt much warmer than 9C in Rother Valley and glad I’d put some sun cream on my solar panel. Carried and drank 500ml water as I’d started out a bit thirsty. A nice run.

Started at 2C, rising to 8C, sunny, cool to mild. Went for my usual 13 mile weekend route. HR was low for the first half then started it climb as I got warm from the sunshine. A nice run. Had a gel before starting, then two more and 500ml water on the run. Tired slightly on the last mile. A fun run was gathering at RV so there were plenty of families and dogs to dodge, none of them expecting a lone runner to be coming towards them!
