3C, cold, clear skies, freezing westerly wind.  Another 7 mile run, with the usual niggles.  Felt strong, maintained a nice pace and enjoyed the sunrise as I was finishing. I love these crispy, cold mornings 🙂

4C, cold, light wind.  Another 7 mile run.  Decided to leave the compression socks off (been wearing them for weeks). I’ve noticed a slight lower shin niggle and wondered if weeks of compression socks and running tights haven’t helped. They’re a close fit (obviously) and make my lower leg feel a bit ‘wooden’.  Felt the usual niggles on the run, but not that bad.  After a reasonable first lap I saw another runner in the distance on lap two and gradually reeled them in and passed them. Did a faster than intended pace but was pleased with the time.

4C, cold, windy. A very cold, strong wind for this 7 mile run. Wrapped up well and it felt slow. Spent the time thinking about plans for an Autumn marathon, and it helped to clarify a few thoughts and priorities. I’ve got Liverpool booked for June, and need to decide what after that.

1C, cold, clear skies and a freezing wind from the South. Did the same 15 mile route as last weekend, managed to finish before the rain came. Had a gel before starting, followed by 2 more gels and 500ml water during the run. Didn’t notice right heel niggle much, but for the last 4-5 miles the ball of my left foot was sore. It felt like I was pushing slightly harder than last week, hence the faster time and higher heart rate. Enjoyed it.

2C, cold, clear skies and a bit of frost. Apart from wrapping up for the cooler temperature, today’s 7 mile run was very similar to yesterday’s. Minor right heel niggle on and off and virtually identical stats. Felt OK, got a good rhythm on the first lap, less so on the second. I do prefer these cold, crisp mornings to damp and drizzly ones 🙂

5C, cool, breezy. Another 7 mile run. Didn’t bother with running tights, hat, gloves or running light. Noticed right heel niggle for the first km, but my legs felt good and I maintained a consistent, reasonable (for me) pace. A good run.

2C, clear skies, cold. Wrapped up for a 7 mile run. New trainers and new socks today. They’re identical to the previous pair, bought at the same time. Total mileage on the old trainers was over 800 miles, so time to break in a new pair. Felt right heel/Achilles early on, and my legs took ages to get going today. Made for a slow pace and total time, but I enjoyed the crisp weather, icy puddles. Only used my running light for the first mile, then the pre-dawn light was sufficient to run by. As I climbed the hill towards home the sun rose, really nice.
