8C, cool, with clear skies. Another 7 mile run.  Gradually increased pace and felt good. Enjoyed another stunning sunrise.  Was surprised the time was under 64 minutes, hadn’t felt that fast.

6C, cool, clear blue skies. Stayed in London overnight for work, so used a hotel near Hyde Park so I could get a run in. Just one full lap of the park for 4.3 miles. I’d intended to run easy following the race on the weekend, but my pace gradually increased from 6:00 min/km to about 5:05 min/km. Felt great and enjoyed the sunrise, would have run further but had to get in to work. Pic of London from my hotel…

Sheffield Half Marathon 2015

6C, windy, overcast – turned brighter later.  Ran with Jeff, just intended to take it steady with a lot of climbing on the outward run.  Thought the hills were OK but my heart rate readings were off the scale; partly due to not wetting the contacts, mostly because it was tough.  After a drink at 5 miles the route turned flatter then downhill.  My legs held out to the end, really enjoyed the crowds and the shouts of ‘Jeff and Steve’.  The time was a PB for a race half marathon. Good preparation for the Liverpool Marathon in June.

6C, cool, misty, clear skies.  Another 7 mile run. Right heel felt a bit stiff for the first km.  Gradually increased pace until I was doing around 5:30 min/km.  It was a bit chilly in shorts and t-shirt but great running conditions and another nice sunrise.

7C, cool, blue skies, little breeze.  Went for an 18 mile run. Didn’t feel particularly strong or ready so just did a comfortable pace, made sure I could get round.  Had a gel before starting, then at 7km, 16 km and 22km.  Drank 1 litre of water.  No real problems and didn’t suffer the energy fade in the last km like I did last week; a slower time and probably just balanced my energy use a bit better.

8C, cool, overcast.  Light rain for this 7 mile run.  Just tshirt and shorts, about right.  Did a slow pace for the first lap, speeded up slightly for the second lap. No niggles.

5C, cool, bright and breezy. Judged the weather great and dressed spot on for this 7 mile run.  Felt OK and got into a nice rhythm, but didn’t find a fast pace.  No problems.
