5C, clear skies, cold.  The coldest it’s been for months, so I swapped my t-shirt for long sleeves for a 13 mile run. Good call. Set out half an hour before sunrise and enjoyed a fantastic view as the sun came up.  Had 2 gels and 500ml water.  Didn’t tire as much towards the end compared to last week. Could be due to getting fitness back and/or the cool temperature; I always feel better running when it’s not warm.

Another work trip will upset my running early next week – an exhibition in Edinburgh.  Hoping the 4 hour train ride won’t affect my knees like the others did.

11C, sunny and breezy.  Set out slightly later than usual for this 7 mile run. It felt slightly faster than usual but my heart rate was high.  Wasn’t sprinting or pushing really hard.  Brilliant weather, enjoyed the run and finished with a bit of bounce left in my legs. Drank 500ml water.

10C, sunny, cool.  Did a 7 mile run. Legs felt fine having allowed two days rest since the long 13 miler at the weekend.  Expected a few aches and niggles as I’m doing a bit of DIY / tidying around the house, but had none.  Drank 500ml water and picked up the pace slightly on the second lap.  Nice run.

9C, sunny, blue skies, no wind.  I’ve not run for over a week. A couple of long train trips for work seemed to trouble my knees, so I rested them and dodged the rain this week.  Decided to do a slow 13 mile run. Started out nice and cool but warmed up towards the end.  Had 2 gels and 500ml water. Noticed right Achilles very slightly at first.  Tired in the last 2 miles.  Really enjoyed the sunshine.

9C, a grey misty morning with light drizzle/low cloud.  Did a 7 mile run.  This was the coolest run I’ve done for months, the drizzle chilling my arms.  Didn’t feel fast and just plodded around.

Expect work travel to interrupt my running with a trip to Newcastle this week and Manchester early next week.

11C, cool, sunny.  Went for a 13 mile run.  Right heel niggled at the start but didn’t notice it after a while.  Lovely sunrise and had the park virtually to myself on the outward leg.  Didn’t feel particularly strong but could keep going ok and had a few patches of really balanced running.  Drank 500ml water and had 2 gels.

11C, cool, overcast.  Another 7 mile run.  My legs felt strong but this run was spoiled by thoughts of problems at work. I can usually think clearly on a run, often have good ideas or draft lines of text as I go around. Solutions sometimes just pop into my head. Today my mind was filled with a work situation and went round and round, stressful.  Finished in an OK time and later on, at work, the work issue sorted itself out; no need for the overthinking. Lesson learned.
