8C, cool, rainy.  Got out of a nice warm bed for this 7 mile run. With rain expected to follow heavy overnight rain and wind, I knew this would not be a sunrise run.  Still only needed tshirt and shorts, like Friday.  Started off in light drizzle and it gradually got heavier and heavier, until towards the end of the second lap the wind was driving steady rain horizontally into my left ear hole.  Was feeling strong though, a bit of bounce in my legs, and was surprised the time wasn’t even faster than 64 mins.

11C, mild, cloudy.  Went for a 7 mile run, the first this week after a busy time at work including days in London interviewing.  Enjoyed it, no significant niggles and it was good to clear my head.

2C, cold and grey.  Wrapped up for a 7 mile run. First use of the running tights this winter, with hat and gloves.  The overnight frost had left frozen puddles and a few icy patches at RV.  A straightforward run, and I felt warm at the finish.

training run #1,000

What a milestone.  I never set out aiming to run a thousand times, back in March 2009 when I took up running.  My aim then, as now, was to run to get fit and stay healthy.  But it changes more than your muscles. Having trained for and run marathons I have learned more about myself, can better understand the depths of mind and spirit, a determination to push through and achieve unbelievable things.

8C, overcast and mild.  I went for the usual 7 mile run, setting out while still dark.  It was a quite unremarkable run really, slight heel niggle for the first km.  Had the park to myself for all but the last 2 minutes of the run.  I thought I’d take a few photos to mark the milestone…

Wildlife: 2 squirrels, 5 rabbits and LOTS of geese and ducks

Here’s hoping I’ll achieve the next 1,000 training runs, stay fairly fit and keep simply enjoying it 🙂

6C, cold, breezy, grey.  Went for a 7 mile run.  Legs felt OK but not great.  Got a bit of stitch on the second lap.  Not so many runners at RV today after heavy overnight rain, but path conditions were not bad.

Reflected on the Paris troubles from last night. Paris was my first ever marathon back in 2010, just 13 months after getting off the couch and lacing up my trainers.  Loved it and love the city and the people.

9C, clear skies, cool. Went for a 7 mile run at first light.  Almost had the park to myself and enjoyed the cool weather.  After the weekend run I felt a bit stiff in the hips on Monday and Tuesday, a bit odd for me never noticed that before.  Think it may have been a stiff piriformis, on each side.  Today it was fine, but just logging that here in the journal in case it crops up again.  As I was exiting the park the sun peeped over the top of the hill opposite making a glorious scene.  A really uplifting run.

8 C, overcast, windy.  Went for a 7 mile run, after another too-busy work week.  Felt good, but just planned to plod around at an easy pace.  Ended up running a bit faster due to another runner passing me, then running alongside and sharing running stuff.  There was a heavy shower for the last km, as I exited Rother Valley. Surprised I’d run under 64 minutes.
