14C-17C, sunny and warm.  A 15 mile run.  Did some DIY on Saturday which left me with all sorts of aches and stiffness today; mainly troubled by stiff hamstrings and glutes. Took it steady and it was a training run on tired legs, good practice for the marathon.

Had 3 gels and 500ml water. There was a cool breeze from the north west on parts of the route but the heat contributed to me getting fairly dehydrated.  Noticed raised HR on return, linked to heat/hydration I think.  Kept it going though and finished tired but not destroyed.

Garmin watch is on its last legs, the adapted watch strap broke, making it flap about on the return. Need to try superglue or something else to keep it working for a bit longer.

14 weeks to New York marathon.

16C, mild, overcast. A 7 mile run. Had a day trip to Oxford yesterday so no run. Legs felt good today. Lots of dog walkers and a few runners around today. There was a rain shower on the second lap, quite nice. Pleased with the finish time under 64 minutes, I’d expected a 65+ minute time.

16C, warm and sunny. A 7 mile run. I didn’t run yesterday due to a trip to Liverpool, so my legs felt well rested.  I pushed the pace a little, only noticed a niggle in right calf a couple of times.  It felt quite hot when in full sun, the strong breeze didn’t provide much cooling.  Drank 500ml water.

14C rising to 18C, sunny and warm. Even hot in places. A 15 mile run.  Legs felt ok, recovered after a day walking round London on Friday.  Just settled into a comfortable pace and took it steady on the uphills. Had 3 gels and 500ml water. In Harthill and Kiveton the sun was strong, but returning through Rother Valley high cloud blocked the sun and a good breeze blew across the water.  Finished tired but not wrecked.

16C, warm, sun and high cloud, breezy. A 7 mile run.  Felt right heel niggle on first lap. Ran at a comfortable pace, and I was gradually catching a runner on my second lap that was just marginally slower. He seemed to increase pace so I would not pass him, so just before his turn off I stretched my legs and did a 400m interval-speed sprint to overtake. Childish but it felt good 🙂  Drank 500ml water.

14C, sunny and warm. A 7 mile run. Legs felt heavy at the start but were better on the second lap, got into a nice rhythm.  Drank 500ml water. With a heatwave forecast this week I may moderate how much I run; I’m no good in the heat.
