14C, cool, grey and misty. A 15 mile run. Legs just felt ordinary, and I’d drunk a couple of pints yesterday at a beer festival so I ran easy pace. Listened to podcasts again. Had 3 gels and 500ml water. Didn’t struggle, and no bad niggles.

The misty fields near The Pebley pub caught my eye so I snapped a photo.

Finished feeling I could have done a few more miles, not shattered. Ten weeks to New York marathon.

15C, mild, wet. A 7 mile run. Stepped out into a shower but it eased off after a few km.  Legs didn’t have bounce, making this a tired, slow run. Not complaining though, as running on tired legs is ideal preparation for doing the marathon 🙂

17C, sunny with blue skies, warm. A 7 mile run. There seemed to be lots of runners about today, more than usual anyway. Right heel niggled a bit and had a stiff calf afterwards. Drank 500ml water and tried to pace myself because of the temperature.

14C, wet, cloudy, mild. A 15 mile run.  I heard the rain on the window but dragged myself out of bed.  There were heavy showers for the first 5-6km.  Turning west in Kiveton I had a headwind, then the sun broke through and it felt warm for the return home.

This was my second long run done listening to running podcasts. They seemed to distract me from monitoring my running effort, and a collection of niggles came and went. Again, I seemed to run slightly faster (than without iPod) and I finished tired but not wrecked.

14C, mild and overcast. A 7 mile run.  Did an OK first lap and a felt a bit tired second lap. A few niggles in several places but nothing persistent. This was the fourth consecutive day running and was surprised to match Wednesday’s time 🙂 Expected it to be about 2 minutes slower. Overall, I think this week has shown signs of improving fitness (better times) as I step up the training. New York is 11 weeks away.
