10C, wet, dark. A 7 mile easy run. Legs felt OK after the long run at the weekend. Tried to keep to an easy, slow pace and had the whole park to myself for almost all of the run. Only came across a dog walker and a runner towards the end of the second lap. It rained heavy for the first half, then petered out.  Enjoyed it anyway, it felt like a session where you’re earning the right to run a big race.

8C, cool, breezy, high cloud. A 20 mile run. Legs felt OK and I just took it steady. Podcasts in ears again. Had 4 gels and 1 litre of water.

I didn’t tire as badly as usual, felt like I had a bit more at 13 miles and towards the end. No big problems, just the usual foot soreness from pounding the pavement.

Looked out for the usual ostentation of peacocks but there were none around today. (Learned that collective noun on a game show yesterday)

The day started out with high cloud and some mist. See photo of a moody sky taken at Rother Valley. By 13 miles the rain started and got quite heavy, lasted right through to the end.

The taper begins now. Three weeks to New York marathon.

8C, cold, dark, high cloud. An easy paced 7 mile run. Took it steady for this 4th straight run this week. Legs were surprisingly good, minor right heel niggle for first 2k.  Drank 500ml water. Wore headlight for the first time this season, needed it to get into RV and it helped for most of the first lap. Lovely weak autumn sun breaking through at sunrise.

8C, cool, dark, wet underfoot. A 10 mile run which included about 76/77 minutes of Marathon Pace Schedule. The training plan asked for 80 mins of MPS but I did three full laps of RV and it was a few minutes short.  Aimed to run MPS between 5:20 and 5:30 min/km, in places I went slightly faster.

Legs were fine, obviously tired towards the end having run back to back with yesterday’s interval session. Drank 500ml water. Lots of rabbits on the first two laps and can’t be sure I haven’t double-counted; they all look the same!

7C, cold, dark, breezy. An easy pace 7 mile run. Felt OK and tried to run within myself. It was quite dark for the first three-quarters of a lap, then became easier to find my footing. Drank 500ml water, no problems. Light drizzle while stretching at the end.
