16C, heavy rain, cool. An 8 mile run-commute. The training plan called for a 6 mile moderate run, so I used the commute and pushed on a bit.
Setting out into very heavy rain, wore my Salomon jacket which kept me from the cold water but I still got wet through. Had a gel before running (no breakfast), one at halfway and drank 350ml water.
Felt strong throughout and enjoyed it. The rain let up after 4 miles. Thought I’d done the route faster than before from the consistent effort I was putting in, and the great feeling powering up some inclines. Had knocked about 1 and a half minutes off previous best.
