5C to 8C, cold, grey, overcast. A 15 mile long slow run in the Peak District. Was scheduled to do the last long run, 20 miles, before Windermere Marathon. Decided to get some hills in and do a shorter distance. Ran from Totley across to Big Moor and followed bits of a route in the opposite direction to what I’m familiar with (ran clockwise).

Took it steady, enjoyed the hills. Had 250ml water and a gel. Learned a few new sections. The sun peeped through towards the end. Still very soggy underfoot after a wet Spring.

Distance: 14.95 miles

Time: 2:38:52

Avg pace: 10:31 min/mile

Calories: 1706

8C, cool, showery. An easy pace run – aiming for HR zone 2.

My pace gradually crept up as legs loosened off. April showers and a rainbow, rain not too heavy.

8C, sunny, windy. A 7 mile run at moderate pace.

I pushed on when I got to Rother Valley, a pace I knew I should be able to maintain for 2 laps. Felt good. Ended up running around marathon pace or better.

10C, cool, overcast. A 4 mile recovery run.

Legs took half the run to loosen up, get going. Both heels niggled. Would have carried on for another lap but thought we were going off to the gym straight after (But J changed her mind).

An hour in the gym. 20 mins on rowing machine. Then went on 5-6 weights machines. Finished on abs machine.

14C-19C, warm, sunny, breezy. A 13 mile slow long run. Deliberately kept it easy after sprinting the parkrun on Saturday.

Drank 250ml and had a gel. Apart from heel niggle I also noticed right knee part way round and both quads stiffening a bit.

Rother Valley Parkrun

9C, cool, bright. First time at Rother Valley Parkrun, and only my second ever parkrun.

Obviously I knew the course well but this runs the opposite way round to all my training laps. Started not far from the front of the runners, not sure if I’d made a mistake. Set off at a pace I thought I could maintain, pushing it. Splits showed consistency: 6:59; 6:55; 6:57 and the last 0.1 was 6:12 min/mile.

Pleased to overtake a few runners on the way and be strong to the end. Was 39th finisher out of 318, 6th in my age category! Felt overdressed in a long sleeved top, would have been fine in just the vest.

Great to meet a big bunch of Vegan Runners at this run, very good turnout.

11C, mild, breezy. A 7 mile run at moderate pace. Nice weather, bit of warmth has arrived at long last.

Felt good, legs loosened up as the miles clicked off. Steadily increasing mile pace: 9:42, 8:46, 8:19, 8:18, 8:04, 7:51, then climbing up the hill home: 8:56.

A few niggles: heels (both), right knee, left quad. All came and went.

Distance: 7.1 miles

Avg pace: 8:35 min/mile
