Sunday 11 January, 07:58

4C, bright and windy. Made sure I got out early today for three laps of RV, 10 miles, as there’s a running race there this morning and wanted to avoid that. I maintained an OK pace, speeding up slightly second lap. Tired on the third lap and noted slight stiffness in right glute from 14km, but not bad. A good week, 7+7+7+10= 31 miles. Plenty of time to build up to Sheffield Half (April) and Liverpool Marathon (June).

Distance: 16.27km
Time: 1:35:41
Avg HR: no data, wore HR strap but battery must be dead!

0C,cold but no wind, clear blue skies.  Lots of snow and ice around so just planned to to a 4 mile run.  Felt back and glutes when I woke up, after shifting snow yesterday, then sitting around a lot.  But it eased a bit when running and no significant problems.  Carried an old phone in case I slipped and broke something, and used it to take a few scenic pictures. Not bothered about the pace/time, just pleased to get around without slipping and falling.

Friday 26 December, 09:08. Boxing Day.

3C, cold, overcast. Went for another 6 mile run, two laps of the main lake. Felt a few niggles on and off; lower back, right glute, right calf, left shin. But felt strong and was pleased to maintain a reasonable pace. Wrapped up well expecting a biting cold easterly wind, but it wasn’t too bad and I was a bit too warm on sheltered parts of the lap. Afterwards back felt slightly stiff and right hip has a niggle.

Wednesday 24 December, 07:28. Christmas Eve.

7C, cold, breezy. Thought that if I felt OK during the run I’d go a bit further and managed to do 6 miles without aggravating back, glute or hip. Felt glute very slightly but it didn’t develop into any thing troublesome. Did two laps of the main lake. Enjoyed the cool conditions and feel like I’m making progress.

12C, mild and windy. Went for a 4 mile run and was a bit overdressed in lightweight jacket. Didn’t notice right glute until halfway round and then it was a very slight niggle. No back problem at all. Felt heavy and sluggish but enjoyed the run.

I’ll be trying to run alternate days over Christmas and New Year, subject to outside influence of alcohol and weather ;-). will be nice running in daylight while I’m on leave from work.

See that my twin Jeff has just surpassed my number of blogged training runs. No problem, he trains for ironman, I’m just training for marathons. See wn6jeff.wordpress.com.

7C, cold, mostly clear skies. This was my first back to back run (ran yesterday) since the injury. Thought I’d get another run in as I am travelling on Saturday and not sure if I’ll manage a morning run on Sunday. The usual 4 miles. Noticed right glute and hip from early in the run but it didn’t become a real pain, just a niggle. Felt slow, but was hard to tell pace as my run light ran out at 2km. No after-effect from running back to back, but noticed left adductor much, much later, when out shopping in the evening.

12C, light drizzle, dark and breezy. Another 4 mile run, this time really mild weather so just shorts and tshirt. Had a bit of bounce for the early part of the run. Later on I could feel my right glutes slightly but nothing in lower back. Same sort of run time as on Tuesday and no after-effects.
