14C, cool, grey and misty. A 15 mile run. Legs just felt ordinary, and I’d drunk a couple of pints yesterday at a beer festival so I ran easy pace. Listened to podcasts again. Had 3 gels and 500ml water. Didn’t struggle, and no bad niggles.

The misty fields near The Pebley pub caught my eye so I snapped a photo.

Finished feeling I could have done a few more miles, not shattered. Ten weeks to New York marathon.

Distance:  24.35km

Time:  2:25:21

Avg HR:  152bpm

Avg pace:  5:58 min/km

14C, cloudy and warm, sun breaking through later. A 15 mile run.  Legs felt OK, I’d deliberately avoided DIY or gardening yesterday.

In response to a post on Jane Runs Wild blog about podcasts I thought I’d break the habit of running sans headphones. I downloaded a few of the suggested podcasts to my old iPod classic and set off.  It was different listening to interviews, distracted me from the action of running and monitoring effort, whether anything was hurting or if an incline was tough.  The fact I didn’t agree with the interviewee in some regards kept me engaged, I think. Overall I was distracted enough to run my fastest 15 miler since 12 June! Will give it a go again on the weekend run, and see if I can find a smaller, lightweight mp3 player hidden away somewhere.

Drank 500ml water and had 3 gels.  It did get quite warm on the return with the sun coming out. Noted stiff right calf later on, which persisted afterwards as well.

Distance:  24.33km

Time:  2:22:55

Avg HR:  157bpm (chest strap kept slipping lower and lower)

Avg pace:  5:52 min/km
