An hour in the gym. 20 mins rowing, 25 mins on weights machines, 15 mins cool down easy pedalling on bike machine.

Started with 20 mins on a rowing machine. Liked it, surprised how wobbly my legs were afterwards. Then onto half of the weights machines. Finished with 10 min cool down on bike machine. About an hour in total.

Probably did too much with a half marathon race on Sunday.

Friday 30 March

Warm up on a bike then went round all the weight machines. Tried an odd step machine and walked uphill on a treadmill to finish.

Went on the gym bike to warm up, a 10 minute interval routine. Legs told me I’m clearly out of practice on a bike.

Then went around the weights machines. Used low weights, not used to this. Found the calf machine was good, could become a favourite for focusing on right calf.

Rather than run round Hyde Park I decided to go on the treadmill in the hotel gym. Built the speed up to ‘6’ and elevation ‘1’ and kept it going for 40 minutes or so.

Distance: probably about 4 miles
Time: 41:03:98
Avg HR: 138bpm
Calories: 482

A nice change to outdoor running but don’t plan to do this or the cycle machine very often. I miss the varied speed and cool environment, sweating buckets indoors!

Slight niggle right calf, might not be as bad as usual but it’s still there.

Staying overnight in London for work so decided to check out the small gym. Got on the bike machine, dialled it up to 9 on resistance and tried to keep it around 80rpm for an hour. After 20-25 mins thought I might struggle but kept it going. Slight chafing in between legs and pouring with sweat. Drank 750ml water on bike and half as much again from water point in gym straight away. Garmin HRM kept trying to find satellite cos I pressed the wrong button, and I didn’t tell it I was cycling not running. The cycle machine kept saying I was doing 16 something per hour, dunno if it’s miles or km.

Good workout for my upper legs. HR may have been slightly lower had I not been bopping to 30STM while in the saddle (I had the gym to myself). Towards the end it was stuck in the 150s.
